SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Arizona State junior Desirae Krawczyk was named to the All-Pac-12 second team for the second-consecutive season, the conference announced today.
Krawczyk, from Palm Desert, Calif., played the No. 1 singles spot for the Sun Devils and tallied a 15-5 singles record in dual match play. In a two-match stretch against UCLA and USC, Krawczyk defeated two top-20-ranked singles players with a victory over then top-ranked Robin Anderson of UCLA and followed by a two-set victory of over 20th-ranked Sabrina Santamaria of USC.
Named ITA Southwest Region player to watch, Krawczyk also reached the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Championships for the second-consecutive season.
The junior, along with doubles partner Stephanie Vlad, qualified for the NCAA Individual Tennis Championships held May 20-25 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Krawczyk also qualified for singles play last season but will add NCAA doubles play with Vlad to her resume with a 14-4 record on the season.
Next up, the Sun Devils head to Oklahoma State for NCAA team competition as ASU faces off against Arkansas in the opening round of the tournament on May 9 at 8 a.m. PT.
The Pac-12 Women’s Tennis All-Conference teams consist of a six member first team and a six member second team. Players who are nominated for the All-Conference team, but are not selected are accorded honorable mention status. The teams are voted upon by the Conference’s 11 head coaches.
