Women's Swimming Finishes Second in the ASU Polar Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz.-- Northwestern University's women's swimming team lead by sophomore Allyson Bowman, who had a pair of second-place finishes (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle) and a first-place finish (100-yard butterfly), took first place in the ASU Polar Invitational held at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.

Northwestern's 202 points bettered the host team Arizona State (176), Oregon State (72) and Lafayette (8).

Taking center stage for the Sun Devils in the losing effort were junior Camilla Johansson, who had a pair of first-place finishes (200y backstroke, 100y backstroke) and a second-place finish (200y breaststroke), and sophomore Casey Murphy who took first-place in the 400y individual medley and second-place in the 200y individual medley.

The ASU women's team returns to action when it competes with the men's team versus the University of San Diego and U.C. San Diego Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
