ASU Swimming Teams Both Victorious
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.- The Arizona State Swimming and Diving team had a good weekend as the men and women came away with victories at in-state rival Northern Arizona.
On the women's side the No. 21 Devils defeated the Lumberjacks 149-93. In the process the Devils set three new pool records. Junior Camilla Johansson set the pool standards in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke with times of 1:05.04 and 1:59.09 respectively. Also setting a new pool record was Alyson Miller came in with a 2:43.08 in the 100-meter backstroke.
In the diving portion, junior all-American Katrina Pfeuffer swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events for the third time in the last four meets.
Like the women, the men's team had a pair of swimmers who would set new pool standards on this day. The men had a bit easier go of it than the women, defeating the Lumberjacks 143-74. Senior Juan Beltran set a new pool record with a time of 1:04.09 in the 100-meter breastroke. Also setting a record was junior Guillermo DeLeon who came in with a time of 57.05 in the 100-meter backstroke.
