Swimmers Represent Arizona State at Arena Grand Prix, Cozumel World Cup

MESA, Ariz. – Select Arizona State swimmers are representing the maroon and gold this weekend, both here in the Valley and abroad.

The Arena Grand Prix is taking place over the course of this weekend in Mesa, Ariz. Competing are Sun Devils David Adalsteinsson, Lori Layne Kremer. The Grand Prix Series, put together by USA Swimming, occurs at six arenas in six different states between November and June. The event in Mesa is the fourth stop on the nationwide tour.

All Arizona State competitors enter Saturday’s competition ranked in the top 15 in their individual events. Last night, Dalby finished ninth overall in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.26, and he enters the 200 IM seeded fourth. Behm also had a ninth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a 23.38. Adalsteinsson is the 12th seed in the 100-yard backstroke, and Kremer is 14th in the 200-yard butterfly.

Abroad, junior Tristin Baxter is competing in the Cozumel World Cup on Saturday. Baxter will be swimming in the 10-kilometer competition. The current school record holder in the 1000 and 1650 free, Baxter has competed abroad before as a member of the 2012-13 US Open Water National Team, the 2011 US World University Games Open Water Team, and the 2010 US Junior Pan-Pac Team.
