Sun Devil Women Rout Illawarra 91-43

SYDNEY, Australia - Paced by Theresa Jantzen's 21 points and eight rebounds the Arizona State women's basketball team recorded its first win "Down Under" with a 91-43 defeat of Illawarra Friday night at Beaton Park Arena.

Graduated senior Rechelle Lang, a native of New Zealand, chipped in 14 points, going three-for-three from three-point range.

The Sun Devils led 40-30 at the half and were sparked by Jantzen's 14 points. She made nine of 10 free throws in the first period.

ASU outscored the Kittyhawks 18-4 to start the second half, and built a 66-38 lead with 9:21 left in the game. Lang's third trey put the Sun Devils up 80-40 at the 3:23 mark.

Fueled by Lang's five-of-five performance, Arizona State shot 57.9 percent (22-of-38) in the second half. ASU posted 46 rebounds and recorded 11 steals on the night.

Earning her first start during ASU's Australian tour, junior Aubrey McFadyen added six points, seven rebounds and a team-high four steals. Senior Rachel Holt contributed 10 points.

ASU plays the fifth of its six games Sunday at 4:30 p.m. against the Sydney Sharks of the ABA.
