AP PRESEASON: ASU has been ranked in the Associated Press preseason top-25 six times in its history. Prior to this year's 2020-21 No. 18 preseason ranking, it was preseason No. 15 in 2008-09, James Harden’s sophomore and final season, and it never fell out of the rankings en route to a 24-9 final record. That marked the only time in the previous 28 seasons it had been ranked in the AP preseason poll before to the 2020-21 ranking (18th).
