Arizona State Sun Devils (5-22) vs. Arizona Wildcats (7-16-6): 7:30 p.m. MT, Tucson Convention Center, Tucson, Ariz.
Last Time Out For The Sun Devils
Arizona State recorded the first shutout of its Division I history (albeit in an exhibition game) against ACHA Liberty on Saturday. David Jacobson saved all 15 shots that came his way. On the other end of the ice, seven different Sun Devils recorded a goal and six had multiple points, including a goal and two assists by Liam Norris.
Last Time Out For The Wildcats
Arizona was not able to secure a victory in two ACHA games against Minot State, dropping a 1-0 decision Friday and 2-1 decision Saturday on the road. Bryan Drazner scored the lone goal for the Wildcats on the weekend, assisted by Tyler Griffith and Matt Reed. Goaltender Austin Wilson got the call in net both nights, making 30 and 41 saves on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Coach Powers On Facing Arizona
“There is so much great history between these two programs and I think the most important thing to consider is that history, rivalry and tradition will continue on between our ACHA program and U of A moving forward. For me personally, along with guys like Liam (Norris) and Jordy (Young), there were so many great memories of playing down at the TCC that making that bus trip one last time will be somewhat bittersweet. It's a special rivalry to be a part of and I’m proud to have been a part of it for so long. Hopefully one day U of A will elevate their program to NCAA DI status so we can pick up where we left off."
Against The Wildcats
Sun Devil Hockey picked up an 8-1 victory against Arizona at Gila River Arena to open the season on Oct. 3. ASU has won 48 of the last 49 meetings between the two schools dating back to 2010.
