The ASU victory…

  • Improved the Sun Devils’ record to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12.
  • Extended ASU’s series lead over Colorado to 12-4
  • Gave ASU three-straight home wins after victories over Hawai‘i and Kansas State.
  • Gives Arizona State a 4-1 home record this season.
  • Moved ASU within one victory of bowl eligibility with three regular-season games remaining
  • Helped the Sun Devils avoid losing consecutive regular-season games for the first time since the final two games of the 2023 campaign
  • Kept the Sun Devils from dropping below .500 in the second half of the season for the first time since 2023.

Amazing Jake

  • Jake Fette channeled his inner Jake Plummer, fittingly on the night the 1996 Rose Bowl team was honored in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the historic campaign.
  • Fette became the first Sun Devil quarterback since Jake Plummer to catch a touchdown and throw for a touchdown in the game.
  • Plummer did it against UCLA on Oct. 12, 1996 in an iconic performance in which he led the Sun Devils to a dramatic 13-point fourth-quarter comeback victory.
  • Fette finished with 213 total yards (187 passing, 26 rushing) and two total touchdowns in only his second career start.

Copy Skatt

  • Freshman running back Cardae Mack did his best Cam Skattebo impression, doing a little bit of everything in Arizona State’s 20-10 win over Colorado.
  • He threw his first career touchdown pass to freshman quarterback Jake Fette, becoming the first Sun Devil since Cam Skattebo in the Peach Bowl against Texas on Jan. 1, 2025.
  • Mack also finished with 97 total yards (80 rushing; 17 receiving), moving him up the freshman rushing single-season record list.
  • Mack now has 603 rushing yards this season and is only 268 yards away from breaking the freshman single-season program record.
  • Over his past three games, he has combined for 73 carries for 359 yards and four touchdowns.
  • It is the most carries over a three-game span since Cam Skattebo had 74 during the 2024 season (Kansas State, BYU, Arizona).
  • The 73 carries by Mack during this three-game stretch are the most by a Power 5 true freshman running back since Minnesota’s Darius Taylor had 86 over three games in 2023

Reed all about him

  • Senior wide receiver Reed Harris had a big bounce back game and showed off the chemistry he has built with freshman quarterback Jake Fette.
  • He finished with four catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in the 20-10 win over Colorado.
  • It is the third time with at least 100+ yards AND a touchdown as a Sun Devil this season.
  • It was his seventh career game hitting the century mark and he surpassed 2,000 career receiving yards, now having 2,068 in his collegiate career.
  • In 25 career games at Boston College, Harris had two 100-yard games. In nine games as a Sun Devil, he already has eclipsed the century mark five times.
  • Harris now has 907 receiving yards this season and nine touchdowns, both ranked fifth in ASU program history through nine games in a season.

Hold the line

  • The Sun Devils dominated the line of scrimmage defensively on Saturday, recording eight tackles for loss - the second-highest total of its season.
  • ASU had 11 plays with a tackle for loss or no gain on run plays for the evening.
  • Junior defensive end Albert Smith III had a career best three sacks on Colorado’s junior QB Isaac Wilson, the first time a player had posted 3.0 sacks since Prince Dorbah against TCU last season.
  • Colorado’s 53 yards lost on tackles for loss were the most by a Sun Devil defense since that same TCU game (65 yards lost).
  • Coming into today, Smith had 1.5 career sacks in 23 games and double that total on Saturday alone.

Middle of the lineup

  • Junior linebacker Owen Long matched his career-best 17 tackles in the win and is the first Sun Devil to record 15+ tackles in a game since Kyle Soelle had 18 against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 17, 2022.
  • It was the sixth double-digit tackle game of his season and 15th in his collegiate career.
  • Long now has 287 career tackles and is quickly approaching the 300-career tackle mark.
  • Martell Hughes also added 11 tackles for his fourth double-digit tackle game this season
  • The duo combined for 28 tackles of ASU’s 77 total on the evening (36.4 percent), notable as ASU plays a defense that only ever has two linebackers on the field at a given time.
  • Entering the game the duo had 136 of the team’s 500 tackles this season (27.2 percent).
  • ASU got some added boost at the position in spot duty from Prayer Young-Blackgoat, who recorded two tackles for loss and a fourth-down stuff at the line of scrimmage for his three tackles on the night

Quick hits

  • The Sun Devils won the time of possession (33:06-26:54) and are now 19-10 under Kenny Dillingham when leading time of poss (8-11 when we don’t).
  • The Sun Devils have held the ball for more than 32 minutes in 20 of 48 games (41.7 percent), compared with 17 of 55 games from 2018-22 (30.9 percent).
  • Senior kicker Carson Smith made both of his field goal attempts tonight and now has four games in which he has made multiple field goals this season. He now has 40 made field goals in his career. Smith has been solid all season, making 13-of-14 (92%) kicks on the year.
