Tempe, Ariz. - Terrell Suggs, Arizona State University's standout defensive end, was named to the preseason watch list of 64 players for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate defensive player. Suggs, a Chandler, Arizona native, finished the 2001 season with 42 tackles, 18 for loss, and 10 sacks. Last fall's efforts earned him first-team All-Pacific-10 Conference honors and a third-team All-American selection. In only two seasons at Arizona State, Suggs ranks in ASU's top 10 for career sacks and tackles for loss.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner is selected by the 800-member Football Writers Association of America and is presented on December 9th, 2002 at the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The award is named for Bronko Nagurski, an NFL Hall-of-Famer with the Chicago Bears who played college football at the University of Minnesota.
