Shaun Prater

TitleGraduate Assistant - Defense
Shaun Prater is in his first season as a graduate assistant for Sun Devil football.
 
In his role, Prater works with the defense with a focus on ASU’s defensive backs. Prater’s other responsibilities include data entry, preparing practice cards, scripts and plans, coaching the ‘Look’ team and reviewing formations and tendencies.
 
Prater was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. In addition to the Bengals, Prater also player for the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals. In 2013, Prater earned NFC North Player of the Week honors. That same year, Prater was ranked the 13th best cornerback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
 
Prior to joining ASU’s staff, Prater was a program assistant for EXOS Pro Elite Fellowship in Phoenix. Prater assisted the EXOS staff with daily operations, scheduling and planning for all NFL Trust Programs. He was also responsible for helping prepare defensive backs for the 2020 NFL Combine and active NFL players for their upcoming season.

Prater was a four-year starter at the University of Iowa, where he earned First-Team All-Big Ten  honors in 2010 and 2011.
 
Prater earned his undergraduate degree in Global Health Studies from the University of Iowa in 2017 and his graduate degree in Sports Law and Business from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 2019.
