Shane Pelton was named assistant coach for Sun Devil swimming in 2014 after previously worked for the team as a graduate assistant in 2013. Prior to ASU, Pelton worked as an assistant swimming coach and recruiting assistant at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
Pelton specializes in coaching the team’s sprint group, and is also in charge of recruitment for the women’s team. Pelton works closely with all swim team staff, and monitors each swimmer’s academic performance by participating in weekly meetings with the team’s academic supervisor.
During his time as a student-athlete at Southern Connecticut State University, Pelton was a well-rounded swimmer who excelled in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard IM events. Pelton began coaching in 2008, and has six years of experience coaching at both Division I and Division II levels.
