Cooper Jones, who joined the Sun Devil Athletics leadership team on Dec. 5, 2012, serves as the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Development and the Executive Director of the Sun Devil Club at Arizona State University.
In his current role, Jones is responsible for all fundraising initiatives within Sun Devil Athletics and oversees the annual fund, major gift, planned & estate giving, young alumni, volunteer representative, letterwinner and sport-specific outreach programs for ASU. Jones was in charge of the Sun Devil Club rebranding initiative as well as the executive campaign plan for the renovations to Sun Devil Stadium (football), Phoenix Municipal Stadium (baseball) and Papago Park (golf). As a member of the Senior Management Team, Jones participates in department-wide policy decisions ranging from coaching searches, season ticket prices, media relations efforts, academic benchmarks and the multi-year strategic plan for Sun Devil Athletics.
Jones came to ASU from the University of North Texas, where he was the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development and a member of the athletic director’s senior staff. While at UNT, Jones directed a seven-person Development office that was responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of over 500 prospects annually. He was the chief fundraiser for Apogee Stadium, the $80 million campaign for a new on-campus facility which constituted the first major athletic facility upgrade in over 35 years. Jones had direct oversight of the Mean Green Club, the athletic scholarship fund at UNT. Under his leadership, annual membership levels rose over 250% and financial support increased over 225% in dollars raised during that same period of time. Jones has also held various development positions at Louisville, Maryland, and Georgia Tech.
Jones, a native of Conyers, Georgia, earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Public Relations, with a minor in History and Health Care Communications, from Ohio University. While at Ohio, he was a three-year letter winner and senior captain for the Bobcats and made Dean’s List. During Jones’ four-year career, the Ohio Football program enjoyed its most successful on-field period in over 30 years.
Jones is married to the former Tiffany Goodman, who was a member of Georgia Tech’s first-ever ACC Champion Softball team in addition to being an Academic All-Conference selection. The couple welcomed their first child, Jackson Allan, on August 30th, 2013.
