Frank Ferrara was named CFO for Sun Devil Athletics in 2015 by Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson.
“The addition of Frank Ferrara not only serves to streamline our current and future business operations, but the variety of his skill set within business development and the professional sports sector provides a tremendous resource for the future growth and success of Sun Devil Athletics,” said Anderson. “Frank's expertise and passion will positively impact our university and the student-athletes we serve.”
Ferrara brings 20 years of experience to Sun Devil Athletics from the National Football League (NFL) where he was responsible for the financial operations and business planning for 25 separate NFL business units with an annual operating budgets exceeding $800M. He also served as lead negotiator for several key NFL contracts and has a proven track record of securing long-term value and driving bottom line results.
“The move to Sun Devil Athletics gives me the opportunity to reunite with Ray Anderson and be part of the talented team he has assembled here at ASU,” Ferrara said. “I will leverage my 20 years of sports business experience to ensure that our student-athletes have everything they need to succeed, both on and off the field.”
Previously, Ferrara held multiple roles within the NFL, including acting as the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, where he was responsible for communicating financial results to NFL senior management and 32 NFL teams. He implemented the League's first automated dashboard tool enabling management to review key performance metrics in real time. Ferrara also served as Senior Finance Manager for several high profile NFL events including the Super Bowl and NFL Draft. Prior to that, he was the Finance Manager for the NFL's Satellite TV and Digital Media businesses and served as the NFL's Assistant Controller for four years.
Before his 20-year tenure at the NFL, Ferrara spent two years within accounting firm Arthur Andersen's audit division. Ferrara graduated from St. John's University and is married to his wife Angela, with which he has two children, Mikayla and Frank Jr.
