Lisa Young

TitleDeputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer

Lisa serves as the Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Operating Officer within Sun Devil Athletics at Arizona State University. In her position, Lisa is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the external units within the Athletics Department, emphasizing strategy, execution, and revenue generation, including corporate partnerships, and ticket sales and service. Young also liaises with outside business partners and ASU units, including brand/marketing, finance, and contracted service providers. In addition, Lisa is responsible for the fiscal oversight of the department, the organization's strategic vision for financial operations, and the implementation of short- and long-range business planning in concert with the department's strategic plan.

Under Lisa’s leadership, both corporate sponsorship revenue and ticket revenue have grown more than 20% for two consecutive years, and secured both a local television content and distribution agreement with Phoenix’s local Fox 10, hosting two unique ASU content-driven shows. Additionally, important national brand partnerships have developed including Align Technology, Axon Enterprise, gorjana, JSX, Kia Motors, and others. 

Prior to her current role, Lisa served as ASU’s Vice President of Enterprise Development, working with ASU's senior leadership team to advance corporate, public/private sector partnerships. Lisa joined ASU in 2018 as the Executive Director for Starbucks Initiatives, leading partnership efforts between ASU and Starbucks. The partnership’s flagship program, the Starbucks College Achievement Plan (SCAP), grew from 10,000 participants to over 23,000 during Lisa’s leadership of the program, with total ASU graduates of the program from 1,000 to over 10,000. 

Prior to joining ASU, Lisa served in various strategic leadership positions with multinational firms such as Republic Services, Henkel Consumer Goods, and Honeywell International. Lisa holds a BS in Supply Chain Management from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and a Master's in Business Management from The Eller School of Business at The University of Arizona. 

Lisa enjoys being active, having completed 20 half and full marathons; including the New York City Marathon. Philanthropically, Lisa is a member of ASU’s Women and Philanthropy and supports the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF). In her most valuable role, she is a mom to daughter Avery, and their two family dogs, Millie and Cocoa.
