Christina Wombacher

TitleSr. Associate AD/SWA

Christina Wombacher has served as senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator since February 2021. Previously, she was named associate athletic director in August 2019 and has been a member of the Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) senior management team since 2015. In her current role, Wombacher works closely with all 26 varsity programs, partnering with head coaches and sport administrators to support competitive excellence, student-athlete development, and operational success. Since September 2025, Wombacher has also served as the Deputy Title IX coordinator for SDA. 

As a senior woman administrator, Wombacher serves on the Sun Devil Athletics leadership team and the AD Council and acts as a liaison to both the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference. She has led and coordinated numerous high-impact initiatives that have strengthened the culture and strategic direction of the department. Her leadership portfolio includes hosting and organizing major athletics events and conferences, managing key internal and external partnerships, supporting marketing and affinity strategies, assisting with fundraising initiatives, enhancing student-athlete engagement experiences and well-being and contributing to championship performance planning. 

Wombacher, who also served on multiple NCAA committees between 2021 to 25, was most recently a part of the NCAA Competition Oversight Committee. In 2025, participated on the Phoenix Local Organizing Committee leadership team that was created for ASU’s role as host institution of the 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four held in Phoenix.

Before her senior administrative appointments, Wombacher spent 14 years with the Sun Devil women’s basketball program as director of operations. In that role, she oversaw all program operations, including scheduling, travel, and game logistics, while also assisting with implementing marketing and community outreach strategies that elevated the program’s visibility and engagement. She played an instrumental role in advancing fundraising efforts and served as a liaison to community organizations and national associations, contributing to the sustained growth and success of the program.

A Phoenix native, Wombacher was a two-year basketball student-athlete at Yavapai College – she earned induction into the Yavapai Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021 – before completing her collegiate playing career at Boise State University. After earning her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2001, Wombacher returned to her home state to join Sun Devil Athletics. In 2003, she completed work on her master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from ASU.

Christina and her husband have three daughters and reside in the Phoenix area.
