- Hinson has placed three times. at the Iowa state championships and has been ranked as high as No. 11 nationally.
- State runner-up as a sophomore at 126 lbs. His father, Dwight Hinson, was a four-time NCAA All-American and a three-time Big 8/12 Conference Champion at Iowa State.
