BIO

Mykala Walker joined the Arizona State women's basketball staff as an assistant coach on April 21, 2022.

Walker previously worked under newly appointed ASU head coach Natasha Adair at the University of Delaware's women's basketball program. In 2021-22, Adair, with Walker, took the Blue Hens to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in nearly a decade. The staff topped the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) to become 2022 conference champions.

A co-captain and member of the varsity women’s basketball team at Wake Forest University, Walker joined the Blue Hens staff, then coached by Adair, in 2017 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During her time at Delaware, the staff ranked No. 2 in Division I offensive rebounding and developed two First Team All-CAA selections. The staff also represented a back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year while another Blue Hens player took home the league's most prestigious honor, the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.

An advocate for women’s basketball post players, Walker assisted the evolution of Delaware’s fast-paced style of play as the program ranked No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game amongst Division I programs in 2020-21. She’s helped produce two professional players, coached two CAA Players of the Year (2018 and 2022) as well as five First and Second Team All-CAA selections in four seasons.

As the recruiting coordinator for the Blue Hens, Walker proved her worth - signing two Top 150 Recruits for the 2022-23 season and secured 15 player championship-caliber roster each season.

Walker encouraged positive progression within the university and community and served on the DIARS Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee and Student Athletes Against Social Injustices committee.

During her time at Georgetown University  as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations/Graduate Assistant, Walker assisted with team operations and scouted opponents as part of game preparation. Walker started in the role as the graduate assistant while attaining her Master of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management. She graduated in May 2016 and was promoted to the full-time position of Assistant Director of Basketball Operations.

Walker graduated from Wake Forest in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in History.
