CAREER NOTES 

• Concluded her career as ASU’s all-time leader in 3-point field goals (185). Also set the single-season school record for 3-pointers (76) in 2014-15 and set program NCAA Tournament records for most 3-pointers in a single game (6) and most career 3-pointers (19).

• Was named All-Pac-12 as a senior after earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition as a junior.

• Was named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention 3 times.

• Played in 131 career games (30 at SIUE and 100 at ASU) with 75 starts (all at ASU), including the last 68 games of her career.

• Scored 1,001 points in her three seasons as a Sun Devil (concluded college career with 1,291 career points – 1,001 at ASU and 290 at SIUE).

• Started every game in 2014-15 (All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention) and led the team in scoring (12.0 ppg), 3-pointers (76 - 3rd in Pac-12) and was 2nd in assists (2.4 apg), FT percentage (77.8) and FTs made (84) and attempted (108).

• Played in every game (7 starts) in 2013-14 and concluded the season 2nd on the team in 3-pointers (44) and tied for 2nd in scoring (8.3 ppg). Scored in double figures 16x in 2013-14, including 10x in the season’s last 16 games.

• Earned ASU’s Most Improved Player Award at conclusion of 2012-13.

• As a freshman at SIUE in 2011-12, was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and was a member of the All-Newcomer team after finishing 3rd on team in scoring (9.7 ppg) and 1st in FT pct (86.0).

• Earned her BS in Family and Human Development in Dec. 2014. Currently working on MEd – Curriculum and Instruction (Early Childhood Education).

2015-16

• Earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors for the first time in her career after being named honorable mention last season.
• Started every game and led the team in 3-pointers (65) and 3-point FG percentage (43.3-3rd in Pac-12), was 2nd in assists (2.6 apg) and FT percent (78.2) and 3rd in scoring (9.3 ppg). 

• Scored in double figures 19x (led or tied for team lead in scoring 8x, knocked down 3 or more 3-pointers 11x and dished out 5 or more  assists 6x.

• Closed the season making 22 of her last 24 FT attempts (.916).

• Was ASU’s leader in scoring average (12.7 ppg) during 7-game winning streak in February. Connected on 53.2 percent of her FGs (33-62), including 51 percent of her 3-pointers (18-35) during that stretch.

• Scored 14 points 4x (at Hartford, vs. Marquette, vs. Cal, at Arizona).

• Was named to Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Shootout All-Tournament Team after averaging 12.0 ppg and connecting on 50 percent of her shots (13-26) in ASU’s games vs. No. 2 South Carolina, Hawaii and CSU Bakersfield.

• Broke career record for career 3-pointers after knocking down 4 (came into game with 159/record was 161) while scoring a season-high 20 points in win over No. 14 UCLA (Feb. 5).

• Scored 14 of 17 points (11 in the 3rd quarter) in the 2nd half of ASU’s win at Cal (Feb. 12). Also knocked down 5 triples at Cal.

• Tied NCAA Tournament record for most 3-pointers without a miss (6-6) and scored a game-high 20 points in ASU’s win over New Mexico State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 6 triples tied her career high.

2014-15

• Set single-season school record for most 3-pointers (76).

• Started every game and led the team in scoring (12.0 ppg), 3-pointers (76 - 3rd in Pac-12), was 2nd in assists (2.4 apg), FT percentage (77.8) and FTs made (84) and attempted (108).

• Her 76 3-pointers are the most by a Sun Devil in single season. With 4 triples vs. Colorado on Mar. 1, she broke the record held by former Sun Devil and current Indiana Fever G Briann January who had 65 in 2009.

• Scored in double figures 23x, including  a career-high 23 points in ASU’s win over Ohio in NCAA First Round (Mar. 21).

• Scored in double figures in the second half 9x.

• Knocked down 3 or more 3-pointers 14x, including a career-best 6 triples against Oregon State (Jan. 25). 

• Connected on school NCAA Tournament single-game record 5 triples in NCAA First Round win over Ohio (Mar. 21). 

• Also connected on four 3-pointers in wins over SMU (Dec. 6), Washington State (Jan. 5), at Arizona (Jan. 8) and vs. Colorado (Mar. 1).

• Dished out 5 or more assists 4x, including a career-high 8 at UCLA (Feb. 20).

• Connected on 87.5 percent (21-24) of her free throws in ASU’s four postseason games, including a perfect 9-9 vs. Florida State (Mar. 27).

• Scored 17 points (14 in the 2nd half) in ASU’s win at Miami (Nov. 25).

• Scored all 7 of her points in the final 2:38 of ASU’s 51-46, come-from-behind win against Villanova at the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 28).

• Was named to the ASU Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in ASU’s wins over Lehigh and Northwestern. Scored 12 points and pulled down a career-high 7 rebounds in the win over Northwestern (Dec. 21).

• Scored 21 points in win vs. Washington State (Jan. 5).

• Tied for the team lead with 16 points and had four 3-pointers in ASU’s win at Arizona (Jan. 8).

• Knocked down a career-high 6 triples on her way to a 22 points vs. Oregon State (Jan. 25).

• Scored 12 of her 15 points in 2nd half of win at Colorado (Jan. 30).

• Dropped in 16 of her game-high 19 points in the second half of ASU’s win at UCLA (Feb. 20). Was 7-of-12 from the floor and had a career-high 8 assists.

• Scored 14 of her game-high 15 points (4-5 from 3-point range) in win vs. Colorado (Mar. 1).

• Scored a career-high 23 points (14 in the first half) in ASU’s win over Ohio in NCAA First Round (Mar. 21). The 5 triples established a new school record for most 3-pointers in an NCAA Tournament game.

2013-14

• Earned Pac-12 Academic honorable mention notice.

• Played in every game (7 starts).

• Concluded the season second on the team in 3-point FGs (44) and tied for second in scoring (8.3 ppg).

• Closed the season making 31 of her last 37 free throws (84 percent).

• Scored in double figures 16x, including 10x in the season’s last 16 games.

• Connected on three or more triples 5x, including a career-high four 3-pointers at Washington (Jan. 5), vs. USC (Mar. 7) and vs. Vanderbilt (Mar. 22).

• Scored 12 points and had 3 assists in her first game as a Sun Devil vs. Hawaii (Nov. 9).

• Scored 10 points to go with 3 rebounds and 3 assists in ASU’s upset of No. 11 North Carolina at the Cancun Challenge (Nov. 29).

• Made 3 triples and accounted for 11 points to go along with 3 assists in ASU’s win at Cal State Fullerton (Dec. 14).

• Knocked down a career-high four 3-pointers and scored 12 points in ASU’s 78-60 win at Washington (Jan. 5).

• Scored 13 points and tied career high with 5 steals vs. USC (Jan. 10).

• Connected on ASU’s only 3-pointer of the game and tied her career high with 4 assists in ASU’s win vs. No. 15 Cal (Jan. 17).

• Led team with 13 points (5-9 FGs) vs. Stanford (Jan. 20).

• Started her fourth game of the year and scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half of ASU’s win over Utah (Jan. 24). Made all 6 of her FTs, including both with 4 seconds left to help extend ASU’s lead to 3 points.

• Scored 16 points in ASU’s win over Oregon (Feb. 2).

• Scored 9 of her 11 points in 2nd half of win over Arizona (Feb. 4).

• Scored 12 points in ASU’s loss at Cal (Feb. 16).

•Scored 10 of her team-high 13 points (3-4 3-point FGs, 4-4 FTs) in the second half of ASU’s 55-51 win over Colorado (Feb. 21).

• Tied her career high with 19 points (8-16 FGs) at Oregon (Feb. 28).

• Led ASU with 12 points (all coming from beyond the arc/4-6) in Pac-12 Tournament loss to USC (Mar. 7).

• Led ASU with 16 points and tied her career high with 4 triples in NCAA Tournament win over Vanderbilt (Mar. 22).

2012-13

• Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.

• Earned the team’s Most Improved Player Award at the conclusion of the season.

2011-12 (SIUE)

• Was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and was a member of the All-Newcomer team.

• Earned OVC Newcomer of the Week on three occasions.

• Was third on the team in scoring with a 9.7 scoring average and led the Cougars in free throw percentage (86.0).

• Scored a season-best 19 points two times.

HIGH SCHOOL

• A 2011 graduate of Highland High School (Highland, Ill.).

• Was a two-time All-Mississippi Valley Conference selection.

• A two-time team MVP, Hempen surpassed 1,000 career points during her junior season and would go on to finish as Highland's all-time leading scorer.

PERSONAL

• Earned her BS in Family and Human Development in December 2014 and is currently working on MEd – Curriculum and Instruction (Early Childhood Education).

• Parents are Lisa and Troy Hempen.

• Has two siblings: Marc (26) and Eric (25).

• Enjoys being adventures and being spontaneous.

• Born May 18, 1993 in Breese, Ill.

• Full name is Katie Elizabeth Hempen.
