Stefanos Leandros enters his first season as assistant coach at Arizona State University after spending the past several seasons as an assistant coach with the Greece National Youth, Junior and Senior Water Polo programs.
Leandros brings several years of international coaching experience to the table for the Sun Devil team after serving as an assistant coach for the Greek women's Youth, Junior and Senior water polo teams. He began coaching both the Youth (U17, U18) and Junior (U19, U20) national programs in 2010 and has seen the Greek Youth team win the gold medal Youth Women's European Championship in both 2011 and 2013. He also helped guide that same Greek squad to a gold medal at the Youth Women World Championship in 2012.
As an assistant coach for the Junior National Team, Leandros helped coach the Greek women to a bronze medal finish at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Volos, Greece. The team finished fourth at the 2012 European Championships and sixth at the 2011 World Championships.
Leandros has also been an assistant coach for the Senior National Team for the past couple years and saw the team to a sixth-place finish at the World Championships in Spain in 2013.
Leandros is a proficient coach at the Greek club level as well, having started his career in 2001. As a head coach for Triton Amarousiou youth, junior and senior teams, has guided the club to six gold medals at the Greek Championships in a decade of coaching and five other podium finishes between the three teams.
Leandros earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering construction at TEI of Piraeus in 2003 and earned his Diploma of Water Polo Coaching from the National Greek Swimming Federation School in 2004.
