Q&A with Meghan:

What made you choose to come to ASU? the amazing Water Polo program they have, as well as the unique Digital Culture major.
What do you wish people knew more about the sport of Water Polo? The sport is far more physically demanding than it appears. That and no, we do not get to jump off the bottom of the pool.
What is the most intense battle wound you’ve received in a game? A black eye paired with a crooked nose from being punched in the face.
Most common question people ask you about Water Polo… “You guys jump off the bottom of the pool right?”
Where are you from? Albuquerque, NM
What is something unique about your hometown? The culture. We have such a unique culture that is dominated by a blend of Mexican and
Native American history, foods, art, song, dance, and literature.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Arizona? Unphogettable
Do you have any game day superstitions? I don't necessarily have any game day superstitions, but I don’t let myself get over confident about winning. I have faith in myself and my team, but you should always respect your opponent.
If you could meet any professional athlete/celebrity who would it be and why? Ringo Starr. The Beatles have been my favorite band since I was 7, with Ringo being my idol. Beyond music he works with numerous different charities and foundations. He actively lives by his motto “peace and love.
What was your very first practice as a Sun Devil like? I was excited and a bit nervous. I was surrounded by so much talent and the intensity of the workout was intimidating. However, I loved every second of it and couldn’t wait for me and my fellow freshmen to grow on this team together.
What is your go-to warm up song? Primo Victoria by Sabaton.
Favorite Water Polo memory? There are so many, but one of my favorites was winning an exhausting game after two quarters of overtime and two shootouts.
Which hobbies do you have outside of Water Polo? I play video games and draw.
If you had to play another sport which would you choose? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu..
What do you enjoy most about ASU? The community within my major. The professors genuinely care about their students, and everyone is so easy to talk to and willing to help..
Something many people might not know about you? At eight years old, my goal in life was to become a racehorse jockey. Considering jockeys are typically five feet tall and I am 5’10’, it was probably a good call on my mom for making me choose a different sport.
How do you spend your off days? 99% of the time I am playing video games.
Skip shot or lob? My position calls more so for skip shots, but I love lobs.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Cookies and Cream
What show could you binge watch? The Office
Does Pineapple belong on pizza? No.
Are you a morning or night person? Morning person.
What is your major? Digital culture
If you could be any animal what would you be and why? Horse, they are my favorite animal.
What are your current personal goals? Just continue improving and be the best player and teammate I can be.
