ASU: A junior returning after her first year with ASU after transferring from Long Beach State where she played right side and setter...incredibly athletic...will look to resume setter duties in the 2010 season.
2009: Even with the setting position initially rotating between three athletes, Highmark still ranked ninth in the Pac-10 for assists per set with 10.12 regardless of playing the least amount of sets versus other Pac-10 setters. Incredibly athletic and able to play nearly every position on the floor, Highmark will look to resume regular setter duties to help lead the ASU offense. In addition, Highmark also posted 17 service aces, as well as ranking fifth on the team in digs with 176 on the year and 61 total blocks showing she can hold it down at the net.
Long Beach State: Came in as a freshman setter/outside on a 2008 LBS team that claimed the Big West Championship... played in 27 matches for the 49ers, collecting 136 kills and posting 60 assists, while dishing out six service aces... on defense Cat compiled 105 digs on the year and 28 total blocks, two of them solo.
High School: A 2008 graduate of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz... a high school All-American as a setter at Chaparral ... four-year letterwinner that helped lead the Firebirds to state championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007 along with four region championships ... named the Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year after her senior season ... named the team MVP from her sophomore year to her senior year ... also named the Regional player of the year all three of those seasons ... played for the USA Junior National Team following her senior year.
Pers onal: A B IS and Psychology major ... parents are David (Banker) and Allison Highmark ... part of a very athletic family ... mother was a two-sport star for Miami in volleyball and basketball, while her father played for the Baltimore Orioles organization ... her brother currently plays collegiate baseball with Gonzaga... has two brothers, Chris (24) and Kevin (19)... born January 30, 1990 in Miami, Fla... lists winning the Gold Medal for the USA Jr. National Team in 2008 and beating Cuba in the semi-finals of the NORCEA as her most exciting moments in sports.
