Previous: Darby Middlebrook is a graduate transfer from the University of Michigan, where she majored in Kinesiology and Environmental Studies. As a freshman and sophomore, Middlebrook ran track and cross country, earning Big Ten Scholar Athlete awards and running personal bests of 4:32 in the 1500m, 9:47 in the 3000m and 17:27 in the 5k.
As a junior, she switched focus to competing in triathlon, placing eighth at the Collegiate Club National Championships in just her second all-time race. As a senior, Middlebrook won the Mid-East Collegiate Triathlon Conference championship, placed third in the East Coast Regional Qualifier, and was the first woman from the University of Michigan to qualify for the national championships.
