Goodman at Home Behind the Dish - The Payson Roundup
Lacy returns this season ready to jump into the fray after a solid 2010 season, which saw her hit .286 with ten runs scored and seven RBIs for a .447 on-base percentage. A great backstop in the catching corp, Goodman will trade time on field behind the dish giving the Sun Devil pitching staff an advantage while bringing a dangerous bat to the plate in each at-bat as well.
Goodman joined the Sun Devils after transferring from Phoenix College fame where she was a catcher from 2007-09. While at Phoenix College, Lacy put on a clinic, earning Diamond Catcher of the Year honors in both 2008 and 2009 as well as setting the home run record for two years with 59 long balls. While her efforts on the field were duly noted, it was her leadership that helped Phoenix College earn National Champion honors in 2008 all while earning her Associate Degree in General Studies.
In high school Goodman was no slouch as well as a 2007 graduate of Red Mountain High School in Mesa, Ariz., where she lettered for the Mountain Lions three times in softball. While captaining her team in 2007, Lacy also helped lead her team to the 2006 State Championship as well as being named National Player of the Year. Outside of high school ball, Lacy also played for the East Valley Pride and lists her most exciting moment in sports as when Coach Wagner asked her to play for Arizona State.
The BIS major was born on October 13, 1988 in Mesa, Ariz. to Troy (Heavy Equipment Operator) and Dorothy (Day Care) Goodman of Mesa, Ariz. The oldest of two, Lacy also has a younger brother, Cody (19) and hopes to pursue a career in Counseling someday.
