Caylyn returns for her final season in Maroon & Gold after an already impressive three years on the Sun Devil squad. A career .289 hitter with 22 doubles and 24 home runs to her name Carlson also finds herself listed seventh all-time in the ASU career home run record books, while looking to break the top-15 in doubles as well. A versatile player who can and has nearly played every position on the field with success, Carlson is a threat both offensively and defensively. No slouch at the plate, Carlson's 10 home runs in 2008 helped lead ASU to their first NCAA Championship as well as ranking her 15th in ASU single-season records. Her .526 career slugging percentage proves that she's an extra-base threat at the plate, while her .356 on-base percentage and 10 stolen bases also proved she was a threat on the base paths as well. A solid glove on the field as well, Caylyn has accrued a .929 fielding percentage.
An in-state product, CJ captained the Corona del Sol softball team her junior and senior years and helped lead her club team, the Hotshots to a second place finish at Nationals. While at Corona del Sol, Carlson was named a Tempe All-City 2nd baseman her sophomore year, a Tempe All-City Shortstop her junior and senior years and the Tribune Player of the Year her senior year. Carlson hails from Chandler, Ariz. where she was born on March 21, 1988 and is the only child of Ren and Marsha (Dental Hygienist) Carlson, and while currently an exploratory major, is contemplating pursuing a career in speech therapy.
