Sanders Phelps

Sanders Phelps joined Arizona State as a volunteer assistant coach in August 2021 after a year and a half-long stop at Xavier University of Louisiana (Feb. 2020-May 2021) as an assistant coach where he helped lead the men's team to the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship Tournament championship match. For his efforts, he earned both Southern Region Assistant Coach of the Year and ITA/NAIA National Assistant Coach of the Year honors. 

Phelps played collegiate tennis at Rhodes College from 2009-13, earning first team All-Conference and team MVP honors his senior year after collecting 12 singles and nine doubles win, both at the No. 1 position. He also led the team to the Southern Athletic Association Tournament finals. Phelps recorded 97 total career victories (49 singles, 48 doubles) which ranks ninth all-time at Rhodes. His 49 singles wins rank sixth all-time for the Lynx, and his 48 doubles victories rank eighth all-time. Phelps graduated with a bachelor’s in English before going to Tulane Law School and earning his JD in sports law in 2016.
