SENIOR (2020-21)
- Earned a spot on the 2020-21 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll
- Went 11-5, starting the year at No. 2 before shifting to No. 3 midway through the season. Opened the year 3-0 and tallied a 5-0 stretch in April, with all five matches being two-set sweeps.
- Went 10-8 in doubles, earning four wins over ranked opponents. His best victory came in round two of the NCAA Team Championship when he and Makey Rakotomalala, then ranked No. 43 in the country, topped No. 2 Alastair Gray/Luc Fomb (TCU) 6-3 at No. 1.
- Rakotomalala and Ruehl twice beat No. 46 Drew Baird/Govind Nanda (UCLA) during the season.
- Opened the year at No. 76 in the ITA doubles rankings alongside Andrea Bolla. The pair combined to beat No. 7 Siem Woldeab/Eliot Spizzirri (Texas) 6-0 Jan. 31.
JUNIOR (2019-20)
- Won his first singles match of the season against NAU, taking a 6-3, 6-4 victory on court two (2/1)
- Put up several wins in tandem with doubles partner Andrea Bolla including defeating then-No. 1 Robert Cash/John McNally of Ohio State (2/7)
SOPHOMORE (2018-19)
- Battled to the quarterfinals of the ITA Fall National Championship in Surprise, Ariz. in tandem with Andrea Bolla
- Undefeated against ranked opponents on the season, handing No. 80 Rrezart Cungu of No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 87 Bojan Jankulovski of No. 33 Miami losses
- Bounced between courts four and five for ASU, ending the season primarily on court four while battling to a 6-3 record on that court
- Kicked off the season with five wins in his first six decisions
- Clinched a huge win over No. 31 Cal in the Oracle Collegiate Challenge, recovering from a first set loss to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in Indian Wells (3/17)
- Nearly unbeatable in tandem with Andrea Bolla during the season, going a perfect 6-0 in conference play while going 11-2 in dual match play
- Finished the season on a tear, winning five of his last six decisions including one win over a ranked opponent
FRESHMAN (2017-18)
- Got off to a hot start to begin the season, notching five straight wins over some of the top teams (1/21-2/18)
- Tied with Benjamin Hannestad for most match-clinching points on the season with four
- Clinched the Devils' match against Pepperdine with a 6-0, 7-5 singles win (2/18)
- His 7-5, 6-1 victory over Charlie Nettlefold of SMU won the match for ASU (3/16)
- Won back-to-back match-clinching points for ASU in their final road trip of the season, using two victories to clinch ASU's matches against Oregon and Washington to secure a perfect 2-0 road trip (4/6-8)
- Earned Dean's List honors in each of his first two semesters.
PRIOR TO ARIZONA STATE
HIGH SCHOOL
- Grew up playing at the Tennis Club Red-White Tiengen
- Ranked as high as 1424 in the ATP ranking for singles, 1097 in doubles and 61 in the ITF ranking
- Was an honorary member of his high school
- Won national championships in singles and in doubles several times for his high school
- Played for Germany several times, reaching the final of the European Championships twice and 6th placing at the World Championships
PERSONAL
- Parents are Wolfgang Ruehl (Judge) and Karin Albrecht (Lawyer)
- In his spare time he enjoys watching soccer, hanging out with friends and playing golf
- His favorite tennis player is Andy Roddick
- Soccer is his favorite sport to watch, and he supports the team Bayern Munich
- His most memorable experience in his career his first Junior Grand Slam main draw in Wimbledon in 2016 as well as winning the national championships in Germany
