• Son of Alfred and Kathleen Benavidez has a sister, Monique and brother, Derek

• Most exciting moment in sports was racing an Olympian at the Arizona Speedo Invitational Meet
• When he isn't in the pool Benavidez enjoys backpacking, hiking and participating as a Special Olympics Swim Coach.
