OFF THE TEE
Made 24 appearances in his four seasons...Bay Area product who competed in water polo and golf at Mountain View High School...first-team all-league every year in both sports...competed in the 2009 U.S. Amateur and the 2006 U.S. Junior Amateur...named Athlete of the Year at Mountain View High School in his senior season...graduated withB.I.S. (Business/Sociology) in 2012.
SENIOR SEASON
Played in all four tournaments of the 2011 fall season, finishing in the top 10 in three of them...won his first career tournament (co-medalist) after posting an 8-under-par 208 (68-72-68) at the Bill Cullum Invitational in mid-October of 2011...shot a 4-under par twice in that tournament to help the Sun Devils tie for the championship...finished fifth at The Prestige at PGA West in early October with a 9-under-par 207 (66-68-73)...tied for seventh in the first tournament of the year, the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, after shooting a 5-over-par 215 (69-74-72).
PART OF 2011 PATRIOT ALL-AMERICA CHAMPIONSHIP
Spencer was part of the first Patriot All-America Championship held Dec. 28-30, 2011, at the Wigwam Resort (Gold) in Litchfield Park, Ariz. He shot a 4-over 217 (74-70-73) to finish tied for 28th in the 72-player field. A
GOOD SUMMER OF 2011
Medalist at 2011 U.S. Amateur qualifying at Richmond Country Club (67-72) but missed match play by a shot at Erin Hills, shooting 68-75...reached semifinals of the 2011 NCGA Championships at Spyglass, after finishing seventh in the 36-hole qualifier...made seven birdies in the first 14 holes at Spyglass in one match...also shot also shot 70 at Cordevalle at local U.S. Open qualifying to finish second, one shot behind medalist, as he was the only amateur to advance...won the individual gross title at the "Clint" as it is Clint Eastwood's tournament in Carmel. Eastwood presented him with a boxed antique six-shooter pistol as the trophy...also played in the Monterey Amateur, the Trans Miss in Kansas City (where he won the long drive contest) and the California State Amateur at the Olympic Club.
JUNIOR SEASON
Competed in a career-high five events and 14 rounds...matched his career-best finish after tying for 16th at the Topy Cup, the first event of the fall season...appeared in three events for the first time: the PING/Golfweek Preview, The Prestige at PGA West and the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters.
SOPHOMORE SEASON
Recorded a 73.46 stroke average in four events...tied for 16th with a 2-under par 211 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational (70-77-64). Shot a collegiate-low 64 in the third round of the event...competed at the Pac-10 Championship.
FRESHMAN SEASON
Appeared in four tournaments...finished 33rd at the Bill Cullum Invitational...also played in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.
PREP AND JUNIOR CAREER
Named to Hogan Cup North Team representing NorCal and won the NCGA and San Francisco City Junior titles...earned four letters in golf and four in water polo and was captain of golf team in senior year and water polo in junior and senior years.
