“I want to express my gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to join the Arizona State University men’s golf team starting in January. I sincerely thank coaches Matt Thurmond and Thomas Sutton for giving me this opportunity to fulfill my dream,” says Raul.
“Becoming a Sun Devil has been my motivation to work hard every day. It’s truly incredible to join a team with such extraordinary players and to be part of one of the most successful college golf programs in the world. I can’t wait for my first day! Let’s go, Devils!”

What Coach says
“It is hard to believe that last fall was the first time since spring 2011 that we didn’t have a Spaniard on this team,” says Thurmond of the history that includes names like Ballester, Rahm and Canizares, to name a few.
“Raul accelerated his schooling to get here as soon as possible, and I’m so glad he’s joining in January. He has explosive potential and upside, played at a high level over many years, and we see him having big success carrying on the great tradition of Spanish Sun Devils.”
