--Willie Atwood was one of the most improved players in the Pac-12 in 2015-16, as he notched 17 games in double digits, after not scoring in 15 games in his initial season.

--Will become the first member of his family to earn his college degree in May of 2016. Also was the the February Sun Devil Athletics Student-Athlete of the Month.

--Ended the season 80-of-102 (.784) from the free throw line, 9th in the Pac-12.

--Last season Willie averaged 11.6 minutes, scored 92 total points (3.0 per game), and was 11-of-31 (.355) from the three-point stripe. With a slimmed-down frame, he averaged 27.1 minutes and 8.6 points.

--Injured his hand late in the Feb. 12 win over No. 23 USC and it hurt him the rest of the year.  He averaged 3.2 points in the final six games, going scoreless in three of them.

--Son of Keisha London and Willie Atwood Sr.  He took official visits to Florida State and Iowa in spring of 2014 before settling on Tempe as his home.

--Averaged 20.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in 2013-14 at Connors State, while also making 20 steals and eight blocks.

--“Willie is just a special kid. He took us to the national tournament as a freshman and won the conference as a sophomore. We won a lot of games with Willie but he has also done a lot for this college, the faculty and the staff who have enjoyed his personality. He has been a high-class student and citizen who has worked very hard to improve his game. He has come a long way from high school where he didn’t have many recruiting options to where he is today from this program. Willie fits Arizona State and that conference — Connors State Head Coach Bill Muse.

ARIZONA STATE (2015-16)...

--Scored a career-high 18 points and made all 10 free throws in Dec. 22 home win vs eventual Southland Conference champion Stephen F. Austin.

--Netted 15 points during Dec. 5 home win over No. 18 Texas A&M.

--One of three Sun Devils to start in all 32 games in 2015-16 and averaged 27.1 minutes, third on the team.

--Averaged 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

--Scored 13 points over NCAA Tournament opponent Oregon State on Jan. 28.

--Netted 16 points on 6-of-10 field goals in Jan. 23 loss at Stanford.

--Possted 15 points including 7-of-8 free throws in Jan. 14 home win over Washington State.

--Recorded 14 points and tied a team-high 5 rebounds in Jan. 3 home loss to No. 7 Arizona.

--Scored 14 points and made a trio of three-pointers in Dec. 2 road win at Creighton and had 14 points in Dec. 16 comeback win at UNLV.

--Posted a double-double (11 points/10 rebounds) in Nov. 24 Legends Classic Championship Game at Brooklyn against Marquette.

ARIZONA STATE (2014-15)...

--Had 12 points at Utah on Feb. 26 in 21 minutes.

--Posted seven points in 20 minutes at Marquette on Dec. 16.

--Had 11 points in 19 minutes in season-opener vs. Chicago State on Nov. 14 and then played 30 minutes vs. Bethune Cookman in the second game.

--Posted double-digit minutes in first 12 games of the year, as he played in 31 games and started in the first 11 games.

CONNORS STATE COLLEGE (2012-14)...

--The 6-8 Atwood put up serious digits en route to third-team All-America honors and was the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference and Region II Player of the Year.

--Led the Cowboys to a 23-7 season record in 2013-14, and was named to the Region II All-Tournament team.

--Was Cowboy head coach Bill Muse’s 14th junior college All-American during his first 22 years at at Connors State.

--Scored 953 points to average 15.6 points per game over two seasons.

--In sophomore season (2013-14), Atwood had 11 double-doubles and scored a career-high 41 points against Independence Community College.

--Shot .576 from the floor and was 270-of-349 for 77.4 percent at the free throw line, while pulling down nine caroms per game.
