- Scored his first collegiate goal on Dec. 17 against UMass
- Recorded his first collegiate point -- an assist -- on Nov. 18 against then-No. 10 Penn State
- Tallied over a point-per-game with Spruce Grove in 2015-16, totaling 49 points (20-29) in 47 games
- Compiled another two goals and six assists in 13 playoff games as well
- Played just over two and a half seasons with Spruce Grove
- Father is 10-year NHL veteran Craig Simpson, who played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres totaling 497 points in 634 games; now broadcasts for Hockey Night in Canada
- His brother, Dillon, is currently playing in the AHL for the Bakersfield Condors after being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of 2011 NHL Draft
