JUNIOR (2025-26):
- Named a co-captain with Bennett Schimek in Summer 2025
SOPHOMORE (2024-25):
- Played in 35 games, doubling his point totals from his rookie campaign from 16 points (2023-24) to 30 points in 2024-25
- Led the ASU sophomore class in points and boasted the sixth-most points on the ASU squad
- Tallied 12 goals, 18 assists. Boasted a +12 plus/minus which was tied for second-most on the ASU team
- Scored five power play goals, second-most on the team. Also tallied a game-winning and a shorthanded goal each.
- Made 30 blocks - the most of any forward on the ASU team
- Tied a career single game high for goals with two in ASU's season opener at Air Force (Oct. 4). He became one of only five ASU players to score a power play goal and a shorthanded goal in the same game. Finished the weekend at the Falcons with three goals.
- Went on a three-game assist streak (Oct. 26-Nov. 9). With only one game without tallying a point, Smolen picked up the assist streak again - this time for six straight games and seven assists and one goal.
- Put up his fourth multipoint game of the season versus then-No. 14 North Dakota with one power play goal and one assist
- On the road at St. Cloud State, Smolen notched a four point weekend with one goal and three assists
- Late in the conference schedule, Smolen went on another point scoring streak including against Denver, Minnesota Duluth and Western Michigan. In the span of five games (Feb. 8-22), the sophomore scored four goals and two assists
- An upper body injury during the first game of the NCHC Quarterfinals against Minnesota Duluth kept Smolen from competing in game two against the Bulldogs and the semifinal Frozen Faceoff game versus Denver at Xcel Energy Center
FRESHMAN (2023-24):
- Played in his first collegiate game against then-No. 15 Merrimack on Oct. 13, 2023 at Mullett Arena. Registered one block in his debut.
- Tallied seven goals and nine assists which led all ASU rookies in point-scoring
- He notched two game-winning goals, ranking second in all-time ASU rookie GWGs
- Scored his first collegiate goal against Northern Michigan on Oct. 20, 2023 at Mullett Arena.
- Went on a three-game point scoring streak from Oct. 20-27, 2023 featuring two goals and one assist
- Led the team in shot percentage (.212)
- Had a three point night vs. Harvard on Jan. 5 which included two goals and one assist. The three points set a single game career high for the freshman.
- Played in 36 out of 38 possible games during the 2023-24 season
Junior Hockey:
- Smolen was a four-year skater with the USHL’s Fargo Force, competing in over 190 games and tallying 77 total points.
- Three of those four seasons Fargo competed in USHL postseason.
- Smolen arrived at ASU fresh off of his best season in the USHL, totaling a career high 39 points (17G, 22A) through 59 games.
- He also donned the captain’s ‘C’ in 2022-23 and finished the year with a massive +24 plus/minus.
