TitleAssistant Athletics Director for Recruiting

Sherman Morris was named Assistant Athletics Director for Recruiting at ASU in March 2013.

Morris comes to Tempe after spending six years (2007-13) as the Director of Player Personnel at LSU for Head Coach Les Miles. At LSU, Morris served a leadership role in the development of five consecutive nationally top-ranked recruiting classes (LSU had the nation's #1 ranked recruiting class in 2009). He played a major role in identifying student-athletes such as Morris Claiborne, Bennie Logan, Michael Brockers, Sam Montgomery, J.C. Copeland, Anthony Johnson, Jalen Collins, Eric Reid, Tharold Simon, Spencer Ware, Alfred Blue, Jeremy Hill, Vadal Alexander, Trae Turner, La'el Collins, Jarvis Landry, and Odell Beckham to name a few.

Twice during his tenure (2009 and 2011) coaching staff members won "National Recruiter of the Year" awards for LSU. He was the Project Manager in the development of the LesMiles.net national award-winning website, the Miles Method, an Apple Application (the first of its kind in collegiate athletics). Morris also developed the "Parents Circle," a blog that served as a community portal between the football program and the parents of student-athletes.

Morris joined LSU in 2007 after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Head Football Coach at Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Fla., for two years. The south Florida native served as Glades Central's Run Game and Special Teams Coordinator and helped his team to the 2006 Florida 3A State Championship as well as regional and district titles in 2005 and 2006.

He helped improve the football program's student-athlete grade-point average from 1.90 to 2.80. Morris also negotiated a contract for a ESPN national television game and secured a contract with Nike for the school and a sponsorship for the Nike Raider Nation Primetime 7-on-7 Passing Tournament. His offense averaged more than 6,000 yards of offense (430 yards per game) each season and more than 42 points per game. He helped produce 16 all-conference players, 12 all-county players, 10 all-state players and one All-American. He coached and mentored 50 student-athletes who earned scholarships and played college football.

Morris began his football coaching career in 2000 as the offensive line coach at Deerfield Beach High School. He is a former member of LSU's men's track and field program and was the winner of the 1991 SEC Championship in the 55-meter hurdles. Morris also was a member of the 1991 All-SEC track and field team. He won a California Community College Championship title while at Long Beach City College where he was a two-time All-American.

Morris earned a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Studies at Barry College and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Physical Education and Recreation from Long Beach City College.
