James Ryan Season 2017

Freshman (2016):

• Led freshman with 19 appearances, including one start, and threw 29 innings, second on the team among freshmen, without recording a decision
• Struck out 19 batters while walking seven
• Made his first collegiate appearance on Opening Night against Xavier and allowed just one hit and struck out three in 1.1 innings (2/19)
• Earned his first career save at Long Beach State as he pitched three innings and gave up just three hits and struck out three, tied for a career high (2/26)
• Went a career-high four innings at Cal State Fullerton (3/9) in his first career start and ceded just one hit while striking out two in a no-decision
• Didn’t allow a run in four straight relief appearances totaling 4.1 innings against California, UNLV and Stanford, ceding just three hits (4/16 – 4/24)

High School:

• Earned three varsity letters in baseball
• Perfect Game All American honorable mention (CA)
• Baseball showcases included the Major League Scouting Bureau All Star Game and Under Amour All American Tournament

Personal: Chose ASU because it was his dream school and it is one of the best baseball schools of all time... Outside of baseball he enjoys surfing, snowboarding, camping, and spending time with friends and family… Member of FCA... His parents have had the biggest influence on his baseball career so far... Greatest obstacle has been being too hard on himself and learning from his failures... Goals for his baseball career while at ASU include learning as much as he can as quickly as possible and being the best he can be so that he can help drive his team to go to Omaha and win a College World Series… Professionally he hopes to be in the Hall of Fame and win multiple World Series’... Hopes to take over the family guitar business.
