2015 (Junior):

  • First Team All-Pac-12

  • Went 9-2 with a 3.60 ERA to lead the team in wins for the third straight season
  • Started 16 games and threw 115 innings with a team-high and career-best 92 strikeouts compared to just 23 walks
  • Did not issue a walk in four his starts
  • Ranked second in the Pac-12 in both victories and innings pitched, and fourth in strikeouts
  • Picked up his first career postseason victory as he allowed just two runs on six hits and tallied a postseason-best six strikeouts across seven innings against Clemson in the Fullerton Regional (5/30)
  • Tossed a complete-game shutout in a win over Washington State in his career start in a series opener (5/14). He tallied a season-high 11 strikeouts, one short of tying his career high, and did not issue a walk for the 17th start of his career, and became the first Sun Devil since Mike Leake in May 2009 to record double-digit strikeouts with zero bases on balls
  • Threw nine innings and struck out seven in an eventual 17th-inning loss to No. 2 UCLA, the longest game (based on time played) in school history (5/9). He allowed just three hits through the first seven innings before his 4-0 shutout was broken up in the eighth
  • Recorded his second straight no-decision at No. 13 Cal (5/2) after he allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out four in 7.2 innings
  • Went 6.2 innings in a no decision vs. Tennessee Tech (4/25) as he allowed three runs on two hits with two strikeouts
  • Threw eight innings, and allowed three runs and struck out six at Washington (4/18) to earn his seventh win of the season
  • Picked up his fifth win of the year as allowed just one run on seven hits in six innings vs Stanford (3/28)
  • Threw his third career complete game and picked up his fourth win of the season as he allowed just three hits, one run and seven strikeouts at Oregon (3/21)
  • Notched his third straight quality start as he tossed seven innings in a no-decision against Oregon State (3/14). He allowed three runs in the first two innings before throwing five straight scoreless innings against the Beavers
  • Earned a win in his season debut, allowing three runs in five innings vs Oklahoma State (2/14)
  • Picked up his ninth career win over a top-15 team throwing 7.2 innings and allowing five runs and striking out seven against No. 1 TCU (2/21)
  • Notched his third straight win, throwing a season-high eight innings and allowing just two runs against Gonzaga (2/28)
  • Struck out a season-high eight and allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings against LBSU (3/7)

2014 (Sophomore):

  • Started 16 games and went 8-3 with a 3.76 ERA
  • Led the team in wins and innings pitched (103) for the second consecutive season, and his eight wins tied for the seventh most in the regular season in the Pac-12

  • Walked just 18 batters in the regular season, tied for the sixth lowest in the Pac-12, and did not walk a batter in seven of his starts
  • Notched a career-best 66 strikeouts
  • Went 5-0 with nine earned runs and six walks in 45.1 innings in six consecutive starts between April 12 and May 17
  • Put together eight quality starts and eight outings of at least seven innings
  • Went 7-1 in conference play and is 14-1 in two seasons against Pac-12 competition
  • Earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors April 28 after he tossed his second career complete game shutout at Arizona (4/26). It marked the first time ASU shut out the Wildcats in Tucson since May 11, 1972, as he struck out eight and scattered seven hits and two walks
  • Struck out a career-high 12 in eight innings in a win over No. 9 Oregon (5/10)
  • Struck out 10 and allowed one run on a pair of hits in five innings to earn the win against No. 14 Oklahoma State (3/2). He struck out the side to begin the game and recorded 10 of his first 12 outs on strikeouts to become the first Sun Devil with double-digit strikeouts since Alex Blackford had 10 on March 2, 2012 against Northern Illinois in Surprise
  • Allowed just two runs and scattered nine hits, and did not issue a walk, in nine innings to earn the win in an extra-innings victory at No. 4 Oregon State (3/22)
  • Did not allow an earned run in 16 consecutive innings at Stanford (4/18) and at Arizona (4/26)
  • Took a no-decision in the Devils’ final game of the season, an eventual 5-4 postseason loss to Sacramento State. Allowed two runs and six hits across seven innings

Freshman (2013): 

  • Named Second Louisville Slugger All-American
  • Earned Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America, NCBWA and Louisville Slugger
  • Became just the fourth Sun Devil in school history to earn freshman All-America honors from three or more publications, joining Brady Rodgers (2010), Mitchell Lambson (2009) and Mike Leake (2007)
  • Earned First Team All-Pac-12 recognition
  • Suffered his only loss of the season in the Devils 1-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton in the second game of the NCAA Regional after he allowed one run on seven hits in 6.1 innings
  • Threw the ninth no-hitter in school history in a complete-game shutout on the road against then-No. 3 Oregon State on March 23
  • Came within two fielding errors, one in the seventh and one in the eighth, from a 110-pitch perfect game
  • His no-hitter was the first by a Devil since Feb. 2, 1993, the first ever in a Pac-10/12 game, the second ever on the road and the fourth by a freshman
  • Was  a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the nation’s most outstanding player
  • Is the only Sun Devil freshman in school history to begin his career 11-0 and is just the fourth Sun Devil to collect at least 11 wins in his freshman season
  • Was one of only five pitchers in the nation to finish the regular season with at least 11 wins and zero losses
  • His 103 innings pitched are fifth most by a freshman in school history
  • His 3.15 ERA ranked as the fourth lowest on the team and is the 9th lowest by a freshman in school history
  • Held a 16 consecutive scoreless-inning streak from 2nd inning against Washington St. on March 16 to 2nd inning against UCLA on March 29
  • Went 20 consecutive innings without issuing a walk, including two consecutive starts, from 6th inning vs. Washington St. on March 16 to 2nd inning vs. Oregon on April 6
  • Struck out a season-high six at Tennessee Feb. 24 in his first career start
  • Pitched in relief in the first series of the season becoming the full-time Saturday starter in the second weekend of the year
  • Earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors, and received National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week recognition as well as Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors following his no-hitter
  • Donated the hat he wore in the no-hitter to the College Baseball Hall of Fame
  • Two-time Scholar Baller honoree (Spring '13, Fall '12)
