SOPHOMORE (2023)
  • ASU's most reliable presence over the last two seasons, Ryan Campos earned his first recognition to the All-Pac-12 First Team after picking up an honorable mention honor last year
  • Will enter his junior season with a .372 career-batting average that will be among the Top-15 among active Division I players and the highest of any catcher on the list
  • Campos has reached base in a ridiculous 80-of-89 (90.0%) career games with the Sun Devils overall and all but two games in 2023...The two games he did not reach base was once during opening weekend and the first game after he returned from an 11-game injury absence
  • Had a team-best 31-game reached base streak at one point in the season and showed off plenty of extra pop in the bat, recording eight homers, seven doubles and a triple
  • Campos was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List and also tabbed as the Pac-12 Player of the Week after the Washington State series
  • In 44 games, Campos smacked .388 with 16 extra-base hits including eight home runs...He walked 35 times and struck out on a mere 17 occurrences
  • Campos' 35 earned free passes were 15th in the league, yet because of his midseason injury, he had the fewest games played of anyone in the top 50 in the category.
  • His .388 average was third in the Conference of Champions and his .503 OBP was tops in the league
  • Campos was named the Jim Brock Mr. Sun Devil at the squad's end-of-season awards banquet at the end of the regular season....Named for the legendary and late Dr. Jim Brock, the award is presented to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the attitude and character expected of a Sun Devil Baseball Player
  • For his elite efforts behind the plate, Campos was named as a Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Semifinalist
FRESHMAN (2022)
  • One of two freshman to be named an All-American (Jacob Tobias). They were the 35th and 36th freshmen in program history to earn the honor
  • A mainstay for the 2021 Sun Devils, Campos hit an ASU squad .357 with 28 runs and 30 RBI
  • His .357 mark was the sixth best by a freshman in program history, just ahead of Willie Bloomquist's .356 in 1997
  • One of just 19 freshmen to crack the Top-250 in the NCAA in average and the only freshman Power Five catcher to do so
  • Had 20 multi-hit games this year – good for third on the team despite starting 13-15 fewer games than the majority of the other starters on the team
  • Threw out seven baserunners on the year despite catching in 10+ less games than the other league catchers.
  • Smashed two homers along with 19 walks
  • His .438 OBP in league games was also tops on the team and ninth in the Pac-12 and tops among league catchers
  • Four hits at home against Oregon on 5/15/2022 were a career high
  • Recorded 16 assists behind the plate, including three vs. Dixie State on 2/19/2022
HIGH SCHOOL
  • Ranked the No. 11 player in the state of Arizona and No. 2 catcher by Perfect Game…The No. 56 catcher nationally and a Top-500 recruit by the outlet as well…Prep Baseball Report rated him the No. 5 player in the state and No. 2 catcher while sitting as the No. 31 catcher in the outlet’s coverage area and No. 303 player overall
  • Bat .453 as a senior at Mesa Red Mountain and finished his career as a four-year starter with a .425 average over 77 games
  • Recorded five homers, eight triples, 25 doubles and 60 RBI over his prep career while walking 46 times to just 22 strikeouts
  • Led Red Mountain to the AIA 6A quarterfinals as a senior and was named to Arizona Republic’s 2021 All-Arizona Team
  • Had a solid 1.230 OPS for his career and a gaudy 1.371 OPS as a senior with a .597 OBP and a .773 slugging percentage
  • Compact frame, defined body, above average athleticism for the position….Sub-7.0 runner as a catcher…Natural low center of gravity behind the plate gives him the ability to stay underneath the baseball…Quick & short footwork with above average arm strength…Left-handed hitter with short simple swing and good speed with pop coming out of the smaller frame.
  • 2020 WWBA World Championship…2019 WWBA World Championship…2017 17U Perfect Game World Series…Appeared in 10 national showcases during his prep career
