Legacy Devils: Tucker's father Tim was an infielder for the Sun Devils in 1986 and 1987 before joining the coaching staff in 1988. Tim spent nine years as an assistant at ASU as well as eight seasons as the head coach at the University of Utah before being named head coach at Arizona State in 2010...is one of four Legacy Devils on the 2013 team, along with Trever Allen, Michael Benjamin and David Graybill, and Emilio Torrez is the younger brother of Raoul and Riccio...was one of four Legacy Devils on the 2012 team along with Allen, Benjamin and Jake Wakamatsu.
2012 (RS Freshman): Appeared in 23 games, including two starts at third base...secured his first career hit and RBI with a run-scoring single against Western Michigan Feb. 19...had two hits and scored two runs in a season-high five at-bats vs. Winthrop March 3...was also used as a pinch runner and a reserve second baseman.
2011 (Freshman): Utilized his redshirt season.
High School: A 2010 graduate of Casa Grande Union High School...earned three varsity letters in both baseball and golf...was twice the captain of the baseball team...earned First Team All-Conference honors as a junior and a senior...played in the 2010 5A-1 All-Star Game...in a game against Deer Valley, threw a complete game and hit a three-run homer.
Personal: Parents are Tim and Joell Esmay of Casa Grande, Arizona...has a younger brother, Cooper...both he and Cooper were bat boys for the Sun Devils...lists Gerard Butler as his favorite actor and Sandra Bullock as is favorite actress...says Bull Durham is his favorite movie...if given the opportunity, would enjoy sharing dinner with Ozzie Smith, Nomar Garciaparra, Derek Jeter and Babe Ruth...says former Devil and current Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is his favorite athlete...born August 10, 1992...full name is Tucker John Esmay.
