SOPHOMORE (2022)
  • Drafted in the 20th round with the 616th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants
  • Due to a left wrist injury, long did not bat during the final month of the year but did give ASU some depth on the mound
  • The big bat was a little slow getting going this year, but Long settled into a nice pace and he finished fourth on the team with seven homers on the year despite missing the last month with a wrist injury
  • He used 18 walks and 3 HBPs to post a .377 OBP over his .294 average
  • He was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career following his efforts in the Washington series
  • Long homered twice in the USC series, one on a three-run shot breaking a 7-7 tie in the sixth inning en route to a 14-12 victory and again in a tight 4-2 game in Game Two with a two-run blast in the seventh that effectively shut the door on the Trojans
  • Four of his seven home runs have came in the sixth inning or later
  • Long became the 129th Sun Devil to be named an All-American last season, becoming a consensus selection after being named to teams by Collegiate Baseball News, NCBWA, and Baseball America
  • Also earned two freshman All-America nods (CBN/NCBWA) and was a First Team All-Pac-12 pick as well as an ACBA All-West Region second team selection and Pac-12 All-Conference first team pick
  • Long finished the 2021 regular season 22nd nationally and second in the Pac-12 with 16 home runs while finishing 13th nationally and leading the league with a .725 slugging percentage on .340 hitting. He was sixth in the league with 53 RBI. His .340 average was the ninth-highest freshman average in Sun Devil history
  • Finished with a team-best 54 RBI, tied with Barry Bonds for fourth in ASU freshman history while his 16 homers on the year surpassed Bonds for second in ASU freshman history behind only Spencer Torkelson (25) and good for Top-Five in the league
  • Behind Long's bat, ASU won five straight weekend series in the last half of the year. In a 19-game stretch, Long bat .444 with 40 RBI, 15 home runs, eight doubles, a 1.181 slugging percentage, a .500 OBP and an absurd 1.681 OPS. Of his 32 hits in that span, 23 were for extra bases
FRESHMAN (2021)
  • Ethan Long became the 129th Sun Devil to be named an All-American, becoming a consensus selection after being named to teams by Collegiate Baseball News, NCBWA, and Baseball America
  • Also earned two freshman All-America nods (CBN/NCBWA) and was a First Team All-Pac-12 pick
  • Was an ACBA All-West Region second team selection and Pac-12 All-Conference first team pick
  • Finished the regular season 22nd nationally and second in the Pac-12 with 16 home runs while finishing 13th nationally and leading the league with a .725 slugging percentage on .340 hitting. He was sixth in the league with 53 RBI
  • His .340 average remained the same through the postseason, giving him the ninth-highest freshman average in Sun Devil history
  • Finished with a team-best 54 RBI, tied with Barry Bonds for fourth in ASU freshman history while his 16 homers on the year surpassed Bonds for second in ASU freshman history behind only Spencer Torkelson (25) and good for Top-Five in the league
  • These numbers are made all the more incredible knowing that after the Washington series concluded on April 11, he had just one home run and 12 RBIs on the year after entering the season as the team's closer and posting four saves and no earned runs in the opening weeks of action before going down with a minor injury that kept him off the bump
  • Led the team with 21 two-out RBI and bat .400 on the year (20-of-40) with runners in scoring position
  • Long was responsible for the go-ahead RBI in seven Sun Devil victories this season – three coming against ranked opponents (#16 Oregon, #18 Stanford and #23 Oregon State) and four coming by way of the long ball. He has two go-ahead home runs in the ninth inning of games this year
  • Behind Long's bat, ASU won five straight weekend series in the last half of the year. He began getting hot with his go-ahead two-RBI eighth inning double off potential Stanford All-American closer Zach Grech on April 16. In the 19-game stretch that started that night and lasted until his hitless weekend against USC in the penultimate series, Long bat .444 with 40 RBI, 15 home runs, eight doubles, a 1.181 slugging percentage, a .500 OBP and an absurd 1.681 OPS. Of his 32 hits in that span, 23 were for extra bases
  • Long was the only player in the Pac-12 to earn multiple Pac-12 Player of the Week nods this season, let alone three.  He was the first Pac-12 player to win the honor three times in a season since Hunter Bishop in 2019. Andrew Vaughn of Cal was the last non-Sun Devil to accomplish the feat thrice in one season in 2018 when he was eventually named the Pac-12 Player of the Year
  • Long was the Unanimous National Player of the Week after the Oregon State series
HIGH SCHOOL
  • In his Junior Year at Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Long hit for an average of .469 with 38 hits and 30 RBI
  • Long was second on the team with 9 home runs in 2019, and possessed an OBP of .571, SLG of .901, and an OPS of 1.472
  • In 28 games, Long drew 21 walks and stole 6 bases
  • Perfect Game listed Long as the 46th Overall Prospect in the Nation and sixth-best third baseman while he was the top-ranked overall player in the state of Arizona
  • Prep Baseball Report has Long listed as the 3rd Overall Prospect in AZ and 1st at his position
  • Was selected to be a part of both the 2017 and 2019 Perfect Game National Showcase
  • Long was in the 99.90% of all pitchers in Arizona, throwing up to 97 MPH on the mound
  • Named to the West Region Preseason All American 1st Team in 2020 by Perfect Game
