SOCCER (KEVIN BOYD/FIFTH SEASON/HIRED MARCH 30, 2007)
Finished 8-11 overall and 4-7 (t-8th) in the Pac-12... Injury-plagued season factored into the program not being able to advance to NCAAs for the third straight season, which would have been a school record... Tied the single-game school record for goals in season-opening 7-0 win over Northern Arizona (Aug. 19) and would move to 2-0 for the third straight year after 1-0 win over South Carolina (Aug. 28)... Injury bug would bite on first road trip of the season as ASU lost goalkeeper Vittoria Arnold for the season in loss at Virginia and then lost its top returning scorer from 2010, Devin Marshall, in loss at Old Dominion... Marshall would miss the next seven games with the injury... By season's end, ASU's No. 2 (Alexandra Doller - 12 games with torn ACL), No 3 (Marshall - seven games with ankle injury) and No. 4 (Nicki Stone - eight games with a knee injury) scorers missed a combined 27 games due to injury... Other significant contributors who were sidelined included Courtney Tinnin (tied for second on the team in scoring in 2009), who missed the first eight games recovering from an ACL injury suffered the year before and defender Kaitlyn Pavlovich (started the first 27 games of her career), who missed the last 12 games of the season due to a back injury... Despite all of its injuries, ASU was still competitive throughout the season as the Sun Devils found themselves on the short end of four one-goal games that were decided in the final three minutes or overtime... Taylor McCarter earned conference recognition for the second straight year as she was named Pac-12 honorable mention... Sierra Cook led the team in goals (8) and points (18)... Cook scored the game-winning goals in ASU's final two games of the season, a 1-0 win in ASU's final home game against Washington and a 2-1 win at Arizona... ASU's 14 players on the Pac-12's All-Academic Team tied for most in the conference... In addition, ASU's three first-team honorees were the most of any team in the conference and ASU's 13 first-team honorees over the last three years are the most of any school in the Pac-12 during that span.
