Player Bio: Heidi Knabe



The Sun Devils' backbone and leader behind the plate, Knabe returns for her final season as a Sun Devil after a 2006 season that saw her catch the majority of ASU's games, where she helped guide 2006's pitchers to some of the best pitching in ASU history. Her performance on the field was apparent with a .993 fielding percentage and throwing out 18 attempted steals. At the plate Knabe hit .202, while scoring 10 runs and driving in 16 RBIs. Of her five homeruns on the season, two came in the 2006 College World Series, which placed her on the WCWS All-Tournament Team. She was also named to the 2006 Pac-10 All-Academic first team.

In 2005, Knabe earned All Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors thanks to her .288 batting average. Starting all 56 games, Heidi knocked in 20 runs and scored 14 of her own. She also had an impressive .989 fielding percentage. Over her career she's totaled 46 RBIs and 10 homeruns in her 149 games played.

A graduate of Simi Valley High School in 2003, Knabe was named the Marmonte League Defensive MVP in 2003, as well as First Team All-League. She was also named to the All-LA County Team in 2001. Heidi is majoring in kinesiology and would like to someday become a softball coach once her playing days are over. The daughter of Wolf and Heather, she was born April 18, 1986.
