Player Bio: Lee Burghgraef



ASU: Three-year starter...started 37 of 50 career games...was elected a co-captain for the 2005 season by his teammates...one of the more unsung impact players on the team, he was recognized by his coaches and teammates throughout his career by earning several team awards at the annual year-end banquet...unselfish player who has a tremendous work ethic...is one of the team's best run-blockers...earned significant playing time on ASU's special teams units...had 19 career catches for 169 yards and one touchdown...was recognized as a Hard Hat Player for his work in the team's winter strength and conditioning program three times in his career.

2005: Started all 12 games at the H-back position...was one of only five Sun Devils to start all 12 games...earned Honorable Mention Academic All-Pac-10 honors...earned the Tim Landers Iron Man Award as was co-winner of the Cecil Abono Co-Captain Award at the team's year-end banquet...had four receptions for 30 yards for the season...caught his first career touchdown pass on a one-yard throw from quarterback Sam Keller against top-ranked USC on Oct. 1...had season-high 19-yard reception against No. 5 LSU on Sept. 10...played an integral role on ASU's special teams units... was one of seven Sun Devils on the roster to have already earned his undergraduate degree...was recognized as a Hard Hat Player for his work in ASU's winter strength and conditioning program for the third time in his career.

2004: Played in all 12 games with 11 starts...shared the team's Pat Tillman Valor Award with Jamar Williams...set career highs with eight receptions and 79 yards on the season...hauled in one reception for 18 yards against UTEP...also recorded a solo tackle on special teams in that game...caught one pass vs. Washington State for a career-long 34 yards...hauled in a season-high two passes in the Sun Bowl for a total of 15 yards.

2003: Played in all 12 games with 10 starts...started the last seven games of the year...had six receptions for 62 yards...averaged 10.3 yards a reception...longest reception on the season was a 17-yarder vs. California.

2002: Played in all 14 games, starting four...caught one pass on the year...played behind standout tight end Mike Pinkard.

2001: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2001 graduate of Norco (Calif.) High School...earned two votes in the Long Beach Press-Telegram's "Best In The West" poll...all-region by PrepStar Magazine in the 2000 preseason...listed by PrepStar as the No. 6 tight end in the West...listed as the No. 13 tight end in the nation by Student Sports Magazine... named all-region by SuperPrep Magazine...listed as the No. 10 rated tight end in the nation by Rivals.com...played in the National All-Star East/West game...selected to play in the California/Florida All-Star game...two-time All-Mountain View League selection and Riverside County choice...collected 33 career receptions for 862 yards and nine touchdowns...as a senior, caught 10 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns...caught 13 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns as a junior...averaged 27 yards per catch as a junior at Norco HS...rated the top tight end in the West by Rivals.com...ran a 4.63 40-yard dash at the Nike Camp in the summer of 2000...also had a vertical leap of 33 inches at that camp...first-team all-league and all-county as a junior and as a senior...three-year starter and a co-captain his senior season...also a three-year starter and co-captain in basketball...his coach, Gary Campbell, is former Sun Devil Steve Campbell's father.

PERSONAL: Has already earned his undergraduate degree in business administration...parents are Fred (correctional officer) and Hilda (sales representative)...has two older sisters, Stefanie (24) and Stacy (22)...hobbies are golf and weight lifting...lists winning the 1998 C.I.F. championship as his most exciting sports experience...born May 3, 1982 in Fontana, Calif....full name is Lee A. Burghgraef.
