2003 (Senior): Did not play in the last four matches of the year after being suspended from the program… averaged 4.17 points and 3.55 kills per game… recorded 16 matches with 10 or more kills and four matches with 20 or more kills… season-high 24 kills in season opener against Utah (8/29)… led the team and was eighth in the Pac-10 averaging 0.38 service aces per game… finished 10th in three categories in the Pac-10: points (4.17 per game), digs (3.12 per game) and kills (3.55 per game)… tied a career high with 26 digs against Tennessee (9/6)… recorded 22 kills on a .340 hitting percentage against Oregon State (10/18)… named all-tournament at all three of ASU’s preseason tournaments.
2002 (Junior): Was ASU’s starting outside hitter in 26 of 27 matches… became ASU’s 11th player to earn All-Pac-10 First Team honors… led the team averaging 4.29 kills per game and 3.36 digs per game… recorded 16 double-doubles, with 21 matches with 10 or more kills and 11 matches with 20 or more kills… also had 17 matches with 10 or more digs and three with 20 or more digs… ranked fifth in the Pac-10 in kills per game (4.29), second in service aces (0.51 per game) and seventh in digs (3.36 per game)… her 420 kills rank 13th all-time in ASU history and the most during the rally-scoring era… here 50 service aces are tied for third most in single-season history… missed one match against No. 1 USC (11/22) due to an injured knee… averaged 4.21 kpg and 3.51 dpg in Pac-10 play… had solid weekend at Oregon and Oregon State (10/18-19), averaging 4.67 kpg and 4.89 dpg in two matches… recorded ASU rally-scoring records with 27 kills, 26 digs and 32.5 points in win over Oregon (10/18)… hit .378 with 23 kills and 26 digs in NCAA Tournament first-round victory over Cincinnati (12/6)… became ASU’s 14th player to ever earn Pac-10 Player of the Week (9/30) by recording 20 kills and 16 digs vs. Arizona (9/27)… had 23 kills and 13 digs in win over #11 UCLA (9/21)… had 21 kills and 18 digs in her first match as a Sun Devil (South Carolina; 9/6)… tallied 25 kills vs. No. 13 Pacific in her second match as a Sun Devil… had 15 service aces in three matches at Carolina Classic, including six vs. Creighton (9/7)… the six aces are tied for the seventh most in ASU single-match history… named to the all-tournament team at the Carolina Classic and Texas Tech Red Raider Classic.
Barton County CC (2000-2001): As a Freshman (2000) Escobar turned in one of the best seasons in Barton County history, setting four single-season school records during the Cougars’ 49-6 season… named first-team AVCA Junior College All-American… also named MVP and Freshman of the Year in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division… Escobar recorded 926 kills during the season, smashing the old record of 570… she also set the record for kills per game at 6.52 and digs in a season with 370 (2.61 dpg)… to top things off, Escobar also set the single season mark for aces with 165. As a Sophomore (2001) she was selected as the AVCA and NJCAA 2001 Player of the Year… named Top Gun, top point scorer and top defensive player of the 2001 NJCAA Volleyball Tournament… first team AVCA and NJCAA All-American… Jayhawk West Region Player of the Year… helped lead Barton County to a 33-8 record and an eighth place finish at the NJCAA Tournament… tallied 549 kills (5.66 kpg), 328 digs (3.38 dpg), 22 blocks (0.23 bpg), 101 service aces and maintained a .300 hitting percentage.
High School/Club: Escobar was the MVP of the Junior National Tournament in Brazil in 2000. She was named the "Best Hitter" three times for her club team of Jogos Abertos de Sobradinho DF, which won its league title three straight years from 1998-2000.
Personal: Majoring in communication… father Manuel da Silveira Escobar, mother is Maria das Neves Ribeiro… father was a sergeant in the Brazilian military… has four brothers (Valdemir, Almir, Marcelo, Alex) four sisters (Ana Cristina, Elisete, Leda and Patricia)… hobbies include sleeping and eating… favorite kind of food is fish, rice, beans and deserts… likes to watch movies… favorite movie is Pretty Women.
