Player Bio: Staci Smith



ASU: A powerful force in the middle and should hold a starting spot this season... a highly recruited athlete out of the Pacific Northwest... played at a very high level of club volleyball... a great blocker and very physical at the net... expected to develop into one of the better middle blockers in school history.

2006 (Junior): Started 30 of all 31 matches played...averaged 2.01 kills per game, was second on the team with a career-high .279 attack percentage...turned in two 18 kill games against USC (10/6) and in the NCAA First Round against the College of Charleston (11/30)...had six games with 10 or more kills...had seven blocks against Cal (10/28) and six against USC (10/6)...had 17 games with three or more blocks...had four services aces against Notre Dame (9/17) and Arizona (11/24)...had a career-high 98 total blocks on the season for a .93 block per game average.

2005 (Sophomore): Started all 28 of ASU's matches, the only Devil to do so...averaged 2.16 kills a game, good for fourth on the team...tied for second on the team with a .246 hitting percentage...had a career high 21 kills against Oregon State (9/24)...had 12 matches with three or more blocks, including a career high nine at Washington State (10/1)...scored 24.5 points in the Oregon State game (9/24), thanks to the 21 kills and three service aces...turned in seven matches with double-digit kills.

2004 (Freshman): Played in 26 of ASU's 27 matches and made 10 starts... averaged 1.66 kills per game and ranked fourth on the team with 0.65 blocks per game... also ranked third with a .244 hitting percentage... finished the season on a strong note with 46 kills in her last seven matches (2.19 kpg)... recorded career-high 13 kills on a .524 hitting percentage against Washington State (11/11)... also had five blocks for 16.0 total points against the Cougars... sparked ASU to 3-1 victory over Tulane (9/12) with nine kills and six blocks assists... had back-to-back seven-kill matches against Oregon State (11/4) and Oregon (11/5).

High School: A 2004 graduate of Gresham High School in Gresham, Ore. (suburb of Portland)... earned three varsity letters in volleyball... coached by Lori Anderson and Jana Mitchell... played club volleyball for the Nike Northwest Juniors Air Elite in 2000-04... helped Nike Northwest Juniors to regional championships in 2002 and 2003 and placed third in the Volleyball Festival in Davis, Calif... named team captain of Gresham HS during senior season (2003)... helped lead Gresham the 4A State Championship in 2002 and third place as a senior in 2003... earned second-team all-state and all-Mt. Hood Conference honors as a junior and senior... named to the prepvolleyball.com top 100 (#73)... invited to play on all-state all-star team in 2004... featured in Student Sports Magazine.

Personal: Majoring in BIS - Communications/Mass Communications... full name is Staci Michelle Smith... parents are Kevin and Lana Smith of Gresham, Ore... has two older brothers, Mark and Tyler... favorite foods anything from Sonic and Mac-n-Cheese... enjoys shopping, photography, snowboarding, spending time with friends and listening to music... studied dance and competed for six years and won several local and state competitions... born July 18, 1986 in Portland, Ore.
