Arizona State Falls to No. 3 Stanford in Three Games

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 3rd-ranked Stanford Cardinal volleyball team extended their winning streak to 18 matches as they swept the Arizona State Sun Devils in three straight games in this afternoon's Pac-10 matchup at the University Activity Center. Game scores were 15-6, 15-10, 15-4.

The Cardinal improve to 23-2 overall, 14-0 in conference action. With this win, Stanford clinched a tie for their fourth straight conference title.

Stanford out-hit the Sun Devils 47 kills to 32. Arizona State only managed a .075 hitting percentage to the Cardinal's .284.

Senior outside hitter Terri Cox led all Devils with seven kills. She also had ten digs on the night. Senior middle blocker Kirstin Mattson also had ten digs and also recorded five blocks.

Leading the way for Stanford was senior Kirstin Folkl who recorded a match-high 17 kills. She also had six digs and four blocks. Sophomore Kerri Walsh recorded a match-high 12 digs and added six blocks. Paula McNamee led all blockers with eight in the match.

Arizona State falls to 12-12 overall, 3-10 in the Pac-10. ASU next hosts California on Saturday, November 8 at 7 p.m. in the University Activity Center.
