ASU Volleyball Runs Season-Opening Winning Streak to Seven

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Arizona State swept four matches at the Ladyjack Invitational on the campus of Stephen F. Austin to remain unbeaten on the young season. The Sun Devils are 7-0 after defeating Central Florida, North Texas, Stephen F. Austin and Rice.

In their tournament-opening 3-0 win over Central Florida, ASU's Terri Cox rung up 18 kills while hitting .457 and digging seven balls. Jen Lucero led the squad with 10 digs in the 15-10, 16-14, 15-12 victory. UCF was forced into 33 hitting errors and hit only .171 against the Sun Devils.

After defeating North Texas in a late match Friday, ASU once again won twice on Saturday with a 3-0 decision over SFAU and a 3-1 victory over Rice. Cox once again led the team in both matches with 11 and 15 kills, respectively. Neither SFAU or Rice could reach the .200 mark hitting against ASU's defense with SFAU at .139 and Rice hitting only .166.

ASU beat the tournament-host 15-10, 15-11, 15-5 as setter Jolynn Faatulu notched 34 assists and a team=-eading 14 digs.

ASU responded to a game one defeat against Rice when the hit just .031 to power their way to a 11-15, 15-3, 15-7, 15-5 win over the Owls. ASU hit .438, .325 and .362 in the final three games.
