Sun Devils Fall to Oregon State in Four Games

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Oregon State outside hitter Heather Lowe had a game-high 26 kills to lead the Beavers past Arizona State in four games tonight in a Pac-10 match-up at the University Activity Center. Game scores were 15-5, 15-17, 15-12, and 16-14.
"We bounced back after game one, but we were not emotionally ready to play that game," head coach Patti Snyder-Park said. "We gave them too many opportunities."
Senior middle blocker Kirstin Mattson recorded a triple-double in a losing effort for the Sun Devils, with 14 kills, 11 digs and 10 kills. Outside hitters Terri Cox and Amanda Burbridge added 20 and 17 kills respectively for the team.
The Beavers Magan Prieto also had a triple-double, finishing the night with 11 kills, 10 digs and 10 blocks. Setter Miya Malauulu tallied 50 assists to push her over the 5,000 career assist mark. Oregon State improves to 11-10, 3-6 in the conference.
Sun Devil setter Jolynn Faatulu went down with an ankle injury (right) in the third game and was replaced by freshman setter Carmen Fusco.
Arizona State (12-8, 3-6 Pac-10) will host in-state rival Arizona at 7 p.m. in the University Activity Center on Friday, October 24 to start the second half of Pac-10 action.
