Arizona State Falls to USC to Close Out Season

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Trojan middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic had a match-high 18 kills, ten of which came in the first game, as seventh-ranked USC defeated Arizona State, 3-0 tonight to close out the Pac-10 season at the University Activity Center. Game scores were 15-7, 15-8 and 15-6.

Senior outside hitter Terri Cox led the Sun Devils with 10 kills and 10 digs while senior Kirstin Mattson added eight kills. Sophomore middle blocker Laura Hibsman had one block solo and five block assists for ASU.

USC outside hitter Jennifer Kessey added 11 kills and 13 digs and Marinkovic five blocks (two solo and three block assists) to the Trojan effort.

"We tried to get things going, but we couldn't," head coach Patti Snyder-Park said. "But we fought hard. We didn't have a chance to shine tonight."

Arizona State finished its regular season 13-15 overall, 4-14 in the conference. Southern California improved to 21-5, 13-5 in the Pac-10.
