OFF THE TEE: A semifinalist at the 2002 Arizona Amateur...Has played in 13 events in three-year career...tied for fourth in the President's Flight at the 2002 Western Amateur held at Yuma Golf and Country Club on June 1-2 with a 4-under 140 (71-69)...tied for 10th with a 6-under 282 (71-71-71-69) at the 87th Southwestern Amateur held at Karsten Golf Course on June 11-14, 2002...originally from Grand Forks, N.D., but his family has since moved to Tucson...Sports Illustrated ranked him No. 40 in its list of top athletes in North Dakota history in its century issue... also an excellent prep hockey player...the first golfer to win the North Dakota state title as an eighth grader and was the first to medal as a seventh grader...had a 71.04 stroke average in 1995, a state record...won the 1996 U.S.G.A. Junior Amateur and state match play and high school titles in 1994 and 1996...the first 16-year old to win the U.S. Junior Amateur title since Tiger Woods in 1992.
2002 Arizona Amateur: Advanced to the semifinals of the 78th annual Arizona Amateur at Arizona Country Club in mid-July as he shot a 147 to qualify for match play and then defeated Tom Parker in 19 holes in the first round. McMenamy then ousted teammate Mike Derminio 4 and 3, beat Nick Juszczak 2 and 1 in the Round of 16, topped Dave Nash 3 and 2 in the quarterfinals before falling to Ken Kellaney 3 and 2 in the semifinals.
2001-2002: Played in three tournaments and had a 75.44 stroke average...best tournament was an even 216 (72-72-72) at the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational on April 12-13.
2000-2001: Played in five tournaments and had a 76.29 stroke average...best tournament was his final one on the year at the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational as he shot a 3-under 213 (70-71-72), which tied for 24th.
1999-2000: Played in five events and had a 73.69 stroke average...part of ASU's Pac-10 title team...best finish was at the Pac-10 Championships when he tied for 22nd with an even 288 (74-72-73-69)...the 69 in the final round was a season best...also competed at the Ping/Arizona Intercollegiate, The Nelson, Southwestern Classic and ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational.
RED RIVER HIGH SCHOOL: A 1998 graduate of Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D....played golf and hockey all through high school...was captain of the hockey team in 1997-98 and a year captain in golf from 1996-98...won the state individual title in 1994 and 1996...team won the state title from 1994-96...an all-conference pick in golf for six years...all-conference in hockey in 1997 and 1998...team won the state hockey title in 1996 and 1997.
