SUN DEVIL CAREER: The 2000 U.S. Amateur Champion, played in the 2000 Masters, 2001 U.S. Open and 2001 British Open as an amateur...a second-team All-American in 2001 and 1999 and earned honorable mention All-America honors in his freshman season (1998) after tying for 11th at the 1998 NCAA Championships in Albuquerque...named first team All-Pac-10 from 1999-2001...set ASU Karsten Golf Course record with a 62 on April 18, 1999, in the final round of the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational...Won the 2001 UNLV Rebel Classic...2000 U.S. Amateur Champion...1999 medalist at ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational and NCAA West Regional in Tucson...matched his best score of 1997-98 (68) while playing in front of a huge gallery on the final day of the 1998 NCAAs, as Quinney was paired with eventual NCAA Champion James McLean of Minnesota and beat McLean on the day...became the first Sun Devil to win the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Amateur since Todd Kernaghan when he won the 1998 title and then won it again in the summer of 2000...other previous Sun Devil champions of the Pacific Northwest Amateur include Billy Mayfair (1987 and 1988) and Jim Strickland (1986)...once hit seven straight three-pointers in a high school game in his junior year...older brother Rob played golf at BYU-Hawaii and at Oregon...other older brother Mark played tennis at UCLA and BYU and was a Pac-10 doubles champion...another older brother, D.J., played basketball, football and golf in high school and earned four letters in each sport.

SUMMER OF 2000: Finished tied for 15th at 22nd World Amateur Team Championship in early September at Berlin Sporting Club with a 2-over 290 (71-72-71-76), which came on the heels of his U.S. Amateur Championship...also won the 99th annual Pacific Northwest Golf Assocation Men's Amateur at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Ore. July 13-15...defeated Han Lee in the PNGA final (5 and 4), Tim Mickelson in the semifinal (2 and 1), Michael Beard in the quarterfinals (3 and 2), Ryan Benzel in the third round (3 and 2) and Brian Flugstad (5 and 4) in the second round...won five matches to claim the Oregon Amateur June 19-23 at Eagle Point Golf Club...defeated Bill Woodruff (3 and 2) in the first round, Carl Johnsen (4 and 3) in the second round, Brad Mombert in the quarterfinals (4 and 3), Bob Harrington in the semifinals (6 and 5) and Jim White III in the championship (8 and 7)...also was medalist at the United States vs. Japan Matches...shot a 9-under 135 (69-66) in the U.S. Amateur Qualifying first round at Bandon Dunes, and won the qualifier by five shots.

ABOUT THE 62: Set an ASU Karsten Golf Course record on April 18, 1999, with a 62, which at the time was the lowest score in Sun Devil history...ended as ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational medalist with a 15-under-par 201 (70-69-62), at the time the best three-round score in ASU history...previous Karsten mark was a 65 by classmate Paul Casey at the 1998 NCAA West Regional...had eight birdies and one eagle...shot 6-under on the front nine (29) and 4-under (33) on the back.

1999-2000: Played in 13 tournaments (41 rounds) and had a 72.34 stroke average...66 was low round of the year...tied for third at USC/Southwestern Classic with an even 213 (73-71-69)...had five rounds in the 60s...a first-team All-Pac-10 selection.

1998-1999: Played in 13 tournaments and had a 72.50 stroke average, second on the team...had five top-10 finishes and four top five finishes...had nine rounds in the 60s...won the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational with a 15-under-par 201, including his record-breaking 62 on April 18...also won the NCAA West Regional with a 7-under 209 (69-70-70) in Tucson...second-team All-American and a first-team All-Pac-10...ASU's top finisher in four events...from April 2-May 22, he was 20-under-par in 13 rounds and had a 69.85 stroke average.

1997-1998: Had a tremendous freshman season and finished the year tied for 11th at the NCAA Championships...matched his best round of the year with a 68 while playing with James McLean of Minnesota, the eventual NCAA champion...notched honorable mention All-American honors with his 11th-place finish...earned second-team All-Pac-10...posted a 9-under-par 279 (69-71-71-68) at the NCAA Championships... ASU's top finisher in three events.

SOUTH EUGENE HIGH SCHOOL: A 1997 graduate of South Eugene High School in Eugene, Ore., which is a member of the Mid-Western Conference...the Oregon state champion in 1997, shooting 70s in both rounds for a 4-under-par...also tied for first at Langdon Farms American Junior Golf Association in 1997, shooting a three-round score of 210, 3-under-par...was the low amateur at the 1997 Oregon Open...finished third at the 1996 AJGA Boys Championships...was the District High School Champion in 1994, 1995 and 1997...participated in the 1996 and 1997 Rolex Tournament of Champions...participated in the 1995 U.S. Junior Amateur...a four-year letterwinner in golf...earned three letters in basketball...captain of the basketball team in senior year...a 1996 Rolex All-American...earned all-state golf honors in 1995 and 1997...was second-team all-league and team most valuable player in basketball in 1996-97.
