OFF THE TEE: A two-time first-team Pac-10 All-Academic pick in 2002 and 2003 with a 3.95 grade point average in finance…a 1999 graduate of Mesa’s Red Mountain High School who played one season at Vanderbilt and then redshirted in 2000-2001, his first season at ASU…tied for fifth in stroke play with a 4-under 140 (71-69) at the 2002 Arizona Amateur and then won two matches before falling in the round of 16…earned Dean’s List honors both semesters while at Vanderbilt…an excellent student athlete who ranked second in his class of 735 with a 4.537 grade point average…excellent junior golf credentials…the 1997 and 1998 state champion as his team also won four Class 5A state titles…highly acclaimed local product…finished seventh at the 87th Southwestern Amateur held at Karsten Golf Course on June 11-14, 2002, with a 7-under 281 (72-66-75-68).
